Playback Theatre
Playback Theatre is based on oral storytelling traditions,
and moves freely between the mythic and the mundane. A participant
from the audience sits in the "teller's chair" where their real-life
story is "played back" by the actors. Improvisation, movement and music
are used to create fascinating, funny, dramatic and deeply moving stories.

Who We Are
Doug Hilton has been a member of 3 Playback Theatre troupes in the
Vancouver area and has trained with Jonathan Fox, the founder of Playback
Theatre in New York. Doug was initially drawn to Playback's ability to take
people from all walks of life, reconnect them with their intuitive creativity
and free them to explore new aspects of themselves. He is also inspired by
its potential to create a sense of community with seemingly disconnected
individuals through the sharing and re-enactment of their real-life stories.
Doug teaches the basic elements and philosophy of Playback Theatre in a playful
but respectful atmosphere. His years of Playback experience combined with his
understanding of the special demands of adult learning make him a uniquely
qualified workshop leader.
